Muckle Music Publications

In addition to teaching and performing, I am also composing and publishing. Six of my publications are described below. I am currently working on a collection of Newfoundland folksongs arranged for harp ensemble.

The Huron Carol / Jesous Ahatonhia
for harp and voice, Alto range (D-D)

Cover of the publication The Huron Carol

This is Canada’s first Christmas carol and probably the first of the New World. It was written in the Huron language (circa1641) to tune of a 16thc. French carol ( Une jeune pucelle/ A Young Maiden) and is known best today in its English version written in 1926 by Canadian poet, J.E Middleton.

The arrangement includes verses in Huron, French and English and is also suitable for flute with harp or piano accompaniment.

Available from the publisher Afghan Press, Houston, Texas.

Harp and Soul
An Ensemble Tutorial

Cover of the publication Harp and Soul

HARP AND SOUL, AN ENSEMBLE TUTORIAL includes 8 duets, 1 trio, 3 quartets, 1 sextet, 1 voice/harp duet, and 1 flute/harp/piano trio.  These ensemble arrangements were written over a period of 25 years for my harp students who were studying with me in both private lessons and group classes. I have included historical notes along with suggestions for teaching and performing for each piece. Where useful I have included settings suitable for Eb+ and C+ tunings.  The difficulty range is from elementary to upper intermediate.  Suitable for all harps.

For further information and listing of repertoire see AFGHAN PRESS.

Available only in Paper Book Version due to copyright restrictions.

What people are saying

“My friend and I have recently begun practicing your harp duets and we are completely in love with your work! I just had to Google you and find a way to tell you how much we are enjoying your arrangements.

We are only amateur harp players, but we’re determined to play well. How lucky for us to have found your lovely trio of pieces. We particularly love She’s Like a Swallow and were wondering about its origins …. is it your original composition? It’s a gorgeous treatment, especially in the way the two harps are so balanced and ‘sing’ to each other. Pretty Little Horses is lovely too — I find myself humming the descants all the time now. Love it!

It’s a pretty rare thing to find lever harp duets where both parts are creative and musically satisfying. (So often one harp does all the pretty stuff while the other harp just plunks along!) But with your work, both instruments work together so wonderfully.

I hope you publish more and more such marvelous duets! Thank you so much for these!”

Best wishes,
